Yesterday 989 co-op members mem-bers voted to centralize in Vernal, Vern-al, and 714 voted against the proposition, pro-position, and in a Democracy, the majority should decide . . . Those of us who live in the Roosevelt-Altamont areas are terribly ter-ribly disappointed over a lot of things that happened during the long, nasty fight that has gone on, but we should swallow our defeat and accept the oft-used statement "all is fair in love, war and politics" . . . I'm not sure whether this was war or politics . '. . it's a 'dern' cinch it wasn't love .... We must be big enough to take defeat, even though we might be of the opinion opin-ion the other team used some strategy we didn't exactly approve ap-prove of. CO-- "What a racket there rwould be if we made as much noise when things go right as we do when they go wrong. . . c o - - LET'S GO WESTERN is a request re-quest coming from the Roosevelt LDS stake who is uniting to sponsor a Pioneer Days Rodeo . . . Every man is asked to grow some kind' of a beard, half, whole or any part that will help publicize publi-cize the affair that will be held on July 24-25 . . . .Women and Kids can doll up in western gear of some kind .. . - we can all have a lot of fun if we enter into the spirit of the ocassion and Everybody Go Western! --co-- A father is often a guy who is working his son's way though college. --co-- COUNTY FAIR COMING Active Ac-tive plans are on the way for another top flight Duchesne County Coun-ty Fair. Committees are working and many improvements are being be-ing made to the grounds .... Congratulations Congratu-lations go to Ross Iorg and his fine bunch of kids who decisively decisive-ly won the championship, --co-- ORCHID OF THE WEEK goes to the retiring president of the Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce, "Bill" Murdock, who last Tuesday Tues-day handed the gavel to his successor, suc-cessor, Dr. R. V. Larson . . . . Bill has done an outstanding job as president and retires with a long list of achievements behind him which have, and will continue, con-tinue, to help the entire Uintah Basin. |
