Persons between 21 and 59 may have only one meal per day with meat at the principle meal only on Wednesday and Saturday. Catholics between 7 and 21 may eat as often as they wish to, but may eat meat only once on 'Wednesday 'Wed-nesday and Saturday. Monday was the feast of the Stigmata of Saint Francis of As-sisi. As-sisi. On Mount Alverno in the early 1200's he received the imprint im-print of Christ's sacred wound on his hands, feet, and side. The latter was Bishop of Naples and died a martyr for the Christian Christ-ian faith. Each year on his feast day, before thousands, a portion of his blood comes to life in a glass reliquery, and can be seen, touched, and smelled as if it were pouring from his veins as it did, the day he shed it for Jesus Christ. The Most Rev. Duane G. Hunt, Bishop of the Salt Lake Catholic Diocese observed his 72nd birthday birth-day on Sept. 19. He was born in Raynolds, Nebraska to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew D. Hunt- He was ordained on June 27, 1920 in the Cathedral of Madeleine by the Most Rev. Joseph S. Glass, 2nd bishop of the Diocese. He was the first Deacon ever to be ordained or-dained a priest in the Cathedral. Bishop Hunt arrived in Salt Lake City in September of 1913 as an instructor in Public Speaking, debate de-bate and homelitics at the University Univer-sity of Utah. A convert to the Roman Catholic Church in Chicago before coming to Utah, he decided decid-ed to study for the Catholic Priesthood. Priest-hood. He entered his first year of Theology at Saint Patrick's Seminary, Menlo Park, Calif. There he completed four years of theology theolo-gy before his ordination to the Priesthood. The schedule of classes for the Catholic children of the area is as follows: (Monday through Fri-dayX Fri-dayX High School classes from 9:00 to 10:00 at the Rectory: Monday Mon-day through Friday, 9:00 to 12:00, Kindergarten classes at the Sisters Convent; Monday from 3:30 to 4:30, Catechism classes at Hanna; Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:00 Roosevelt Roose-velt and Neola children will have their instructions. Also those at the high school who cannot fit their classes in in the morning. From 3:45 to 4:45 Altonah;. White-rocks White-rocks once a month will have Religion classes. On Wednesday the Myton children will be taught from 3:45 until 4:45. Duchesne children Will also be taught from 3:45 until 4:45. Thursday all of Fort Duchesne children will have Religion classes from 4:00 to 5:00 at the Community Hall. On Friday the girls will have Choir practice from 4:00 to 5:00 at the church, and the boys will have Altar Boy practice from 4:00 to 5:00 at the Convent. Every Tuesday evening the C. Y. O. will meet for its sessions. Recently . baptized was little Mary Clare Fruge, anfant daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Fruge of Ft. I Duchesne. Acting as sponsors by proxy were Mr. and Mrs. Albert LaRose of Ft. Duchesne. On Sunday the following visited the Parish from Carbon County: Sam Gallo, Mrs. Frances Succurro and daughter Katherine of Price, Mrs. J. Annello and Mrs. J. Migliaccio. A work meeting will be held Thursday evening (tonight) at the Rectory in preparation for the Bazzar. Also the C. Y. O. group will attend "Three Stripes In The Sun" as a group for their social activity of the week. Instruction classes will be held on Thursday evening also. The feast of St. Mathew will be celebrated with Holy Mass in his honor Sept. 24. Last Sunday the Life of Saint Bernadine of Monte Feltro was transcribed over K V E L for the Ave Marie hour. Next Sunday, Sept- 23, the life of the famous apostle, Saint Jude Thaddeus will be portrayed. He received re-ceived no honor for centuries because be-cause of his association, in name only, with the infamous Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Christ, But after working miracles, he became be-came famous in the Christian world. He is known as the Saint of the Impossible. |
