Show School Operating Costs Increase, Revenue Is Down Duchesne County schools operated oper-ated on almost $200,000 less in the year ended July 1 this year, compared to 1955, according to the financial report of the board of education. Costs were up dn many categories, cate-gories, tightening the pinch brought on by the drop in revenue and non-revenue " receipts. The drop was attributed mostly to the previous year's sale of bonds totaling to-taling $375,000, money which, of course was not forthcoming this year. Costs were up in almost every major category of school expense. Teacher principals' and supervisors' supervi-sors' salaries were $312,000 compared com-pared to $300,000. Auxiliary services, ser-vices, lunches, transportation and nurse, were up about $8,000; maintenance cost increased and fixed charges such as retirement, insurance, social security and others weTe up. Total operating expenses for the year were $691,221, an increase from the $634,000 of the preceed-ing preceed-ing year. . Payments on debt and other expenses brought the year's totai disbursments t o $1,099,919.47, compared to $1,289,326.78 in the previous year. Assets . of the school district include sites and buildings worth $1,700,000; equipment worth $237,-000 $237,-000 and school busses worth 158,-000. |
