Show Local 4-H Judging Team Wins Utah Honors Again Duchesne County has captured the livestock judging championship of the Utah State Fair for the second consecutive year, County Agent Robert S. Murdock announced. an-nounced. The team, made up of Neil Anderton of Roosevelt, Tommy Milburn of Ioka and Alma Moul-ton Moul-ton of Myton, thus won an all-expense all-expense paid trip to the Denver livestock show in January. As an added honor, Anderton won first in beef cattle judging at the fair. Competition was fierce among the 21 teams entered. The Roosevelt Roose-velt team was only 12 points ahead of second place Box Elder County. Sanpete County was third. Last year, Mr. Murdock's team of Llyod Lewis, Jerry Merkley and Gale Larsen, ran up the highest high-est point total in the history of state fair livestock judging. Another state fair honor for Duchesne County came when Scott Murdock, a member of the Dry Gulchers 4-H Club in Roosevelt, won first place in the sheep fitting fit-ting and showing contest held at the State Fair. Scott also exhibited exhibit-ed five head of Suffolks and three head of Hampshires, and brought home one blue ribbon, five red ribbons and two white ribbons. Michael Yergensen and Jean Redmond also gave the other 4-H members at the Fair something to shoot at, as each of them got a red ribbon on dairy fitting and showing, as well as a red ribbon on each of their dairy animals. The club members state it was certainly an interesting trip and they all learned a lot by attending attend-ing the State Fair. |
