DALGLEISH A jolly group of ten Myton boy scouts, Troop 253, accompanied by scoutmaster. Wilmer Murray and Junior assistant scoutmaster Jerry Murray and also a nephew of Mr. Murray, an explorer scout from Altonah, Larry Maxfield, participated par-ticipated in a recent outing. Five boys on horseback left Myton My-ton leading pack horses and mounts for the other members who joined them at Altonah. The trip took them through Swift Creek basin, an upper tributary of Yellowstone river, into the upper up-per regions of the Uintah range, where they fished, camped and explored. They crossed the Bluebell pass, at an elevation of about 12,500 feet from which point they could count fifty-severi lakes and see into in-to Wyoming. This route took them into Yellowstone basin where they explored Kings Peak. During this ten day outing they cooked their own food, sometimes slept under the stars, but at no time suffered an accident, never had to hunt their horses which were turned loose at each camp and although it rained in the ranges around them they did not get wet. A light drizzel of rain was the only time they were in a storm area. From this point they started homeward and ten days from the date of starting the following scouts were again home: Buddy Holgate, RobertDuke, Jerry Kettle, Keith Nielson, Mike Kettle, LaMar Winn and Bert Dennis. Scoutmaster, Wilmer Murray was loud in his praise of the behavior and activities activi-ties of the scouts during their trip and was very proud of the abilities shown by one and all. |
