Show Four Roosevelt Oiris Hie For County Title Out of the eight contestants participating last r-riaay, at the rtposevelt ineatre, in tne preliminary pre-liminary contest tor Roosevelt girls lor tne "Miss Duchesne County" contest, four girls were selected to enter' the county contest, con-test, to be neld at the Ducnesne County Fair, Friday, Aug. 24. They were Yvonne Freiwell, wno played a piano solo; Renee Laprum, who did a aance number num-ber to tne accompaniment of her own voice; Joyce Jordan, wno played a piano solo; and Estner Wogec, wno sang a vocal selection. selec-tion. Judges for the contest were Mrs. Claudius Banks, Mrs. C. L. Piper and Grant Perry, from Vernal, and Mrs. Lon A. Logan, Port Ducnesne. Other girls entering the contest, con-test, also displaying excellent talents, were Beryl and Mary Kelsey, Rhea Sullivan and La-wana La-wana Dillman. The giils performed in formal dresses and at the climax of the program, paraded about the stage for the judges to acquire a last-minute view. Baskets of red and white gladioli glad-ioli formed the background for the beauty parade, which was well attended. Mrs. Cliff Memmott, chairman chair-man of the county contest, welcomed wel-comed the audience and introduced intro-duced the participants in the contest. Music accompaniment was played by Mrs. Bennie Schmiett and Mrs. Parley Rawl-ings. Rawl-ings. Pictures of the four winners will be published in a future issue is-sue of the Roosevelt Standard. |
