Show Ote Tribal Head Honored At Indian ieetmg The National Congress of , American Indians recently hon-; ored Reginald (Rex) O. Curry ! of Fort Duchesne, Ute Tribal committee chairman, when he was elected vice president of the organization at a conference held in St. Paul, Minn. His elec-, tion was announced at the concluding-session of the eight-year-old meeting. N. B. Johnson, Oklahoma Supreme Su-preme Court justice, was returned re-turned to the office of president of the national organization, a position he has held since the congress was founded. Other j vice president is Frank George, I Nespelem, Wash. j Picked for three-year terms on the 15-member executive council were Abel Paisano, La-guna, La-guna, N. M.; George N. Adams, Shelton, Wash.; Edward L. Rogers, Rog-ers, Walker, Minn.; W. H. Pil-cher, Pil-cher, Whittier, Calif., and John 1 Shaw, Fairfax, Okla. , Resolutions were adopted asking ask-ing the Senate to pass the House-approved House-approved bill extending for one year the life of the Indian claims' commission, the Indian Affairs Bureau, to grant more power in : local affairs to reservation superintendents.... su-perintendents.... more nurses and welfare workers in the Indian field, and more vocational training train-ing in high schools, more adult education on reservations " and training in high schools, and a step-up in the number of scholarships schol-arships granted outstanding Indian In-dian students.
