Lamb, Lyle L. Young, Porter L. Merrell: WATER A delegation consisting consist-ing of George H. Wilcken, Howard Roberts, A. Hale' HoLgate, Jack Nielsen, Marion Ross, E. B. Carter, Car-ter, Bill Peatross, Robert Mur-dock Mur-dock and Thomas Jensen explained explain-ed the water situation in the State but more particularly of Duchesne County. They recommended a levy so a man or two could be employed em-ployed full time to safe-guard the rights of the water users of the' county and' to encourage water storage. They also recommended that the county contribute $220.80 to the Utah Water Users Assn. . Mr. Jensen, who is secretary of this organization, explained the "Small Projects Bill," both State and National. He also spoke at length on the Colorado River Project. Proj-ect. A plea for help from the county coun-ty commissioners was made by A. Hale Holgate. Mr. Carter, president pres-ident of the Duchesne' County Water Users Assn., said they were all working under the county commission;, com-mission;, that they needed funds to aid them in the' work they would need to do. He stated that this county should be represented' on the Conservancy District Board; that we would need a bargaining group. Jack Nielsen explained very carefully the water situation on each stream. ELLIS THOMAS and MARLAN BERRETT, a committee from Bluebell, Blue-bell, asked for help in hauling sand and gravel for a cement tennis court on their community center. The county commissioners said they would be willing to assist when the county trucks were not busy, but that the community would need to pay the drivers and furnish the fuel. LAND SALE Moved by Lyle L, Young and seconded' by Floyd E. Lamb that the county sell the E12SEI4, Sec. 30, T. 3 S., R. 4 W., USM, 80 acres, to Elmer R. Moon, Duchesne, for $240. MAGPIE CONTROL Moved by' Floyd E. Lamb and seconded by Lyle L. Young that Duchesne County pay $100 to the Utah State Fish and Game Department for magpie control. UPPER BLUE BENCH Mark Bleazard and Jack Bleazard met to discuss ground on upper Blue Bench near where the old Boneta road takes off. They want to buy about 80 acres on the west side of the road." Mr. Lamb said that they would like to wait until they could meet with Clinton J. Mickel-son, Mickel-son, the' other commissioner, before be-fore making a decision. SANITATION Ariel Michie, state sanitarian, was assured cooperation co-operation by the commissioners in licensing eating and drinking establishments es-tablishments in Duchesne County. |
