Show 4-11 Report Made On Year's Work In Duchesne Go. , In observance of National 4 H Club Week, which extented from March 3 to March 10, accomplishments accomplish-ments under the' 4-H program in Duchesne County during 1955' have been listed by Robert S. Murdock and Mary Lois Reichert, extension service workers. This Duchesne County 4-H Club record for 1955 include the "following: "follow-ing: 229 girls and 107 boys participated partici-pated in the program. These boys produced' 13 acres of grain, one acre of garden, raised 30 chickens, owned 50 dairy animals and 44 beef cattle, fed 15 hogs, raised 30 rabbits, Girls prepared 2,489 separate meal, items, served 837 meals bottled or canned 3,286 quarts of fruit, vegetables or meat, froze' 394 quarts of fruit or vegetables or meats, made 230 clothing articles, 318 garments, improved 18 rooms and made a total of 31 articles for their room improvement projects. proj-ects. Grand Champions This county's boys' 4-H Livestock Live-stock Judging Team was grand champion at the Utah State Fair last year. Seventy-three girls participated par-ticipated at the state fair, winning win-ning 49 blue ribbons and 24 red ribbons. Last year, 68 local club leaders in this county directed 42 clubs. The Duchesne County 4-H Leaders Association is headed by the following fol-lowing officers: Mildred Smith, Duchesne, president; Jack Nielsen, Myton, vice president; Grace Larsen, Lar-sen, Arcadia, secretary; Lawrence Young. Altamont, reporter, and five board members: Christina Fitzgerald, Bridgeland; Winslow Rhoades, Hanna; Erma Anderton, J. V. McLea and Wesley R. Dick-erson, Dick-erson, Roosevelt. 'A tribute to all volunteer 4-H workers was paid by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in a letter received recently by the Duchesne County Extension Service. The president states that in saluting all 4-H members, he is paying tribute to 352,000 local volunteer leaders who help make' 4-H achievements possible. He states appreciation for these public-spirited public-spirited men and women who have-given have-given capable and generous guidance guid-ance toward helping 4-H members learn and apply modern science on farms and in homes, and toward to-ward developing a sound sense of values. |
