Show . : Gasuallj I Ohsetoincj jj ! By Cliff Memmott "NOT LIVING RIGHT" Is a rather common expression being heard in and about Roosevelt these days, as reports come in about other areas receiving rains. It is a fact that for a long time threats of rain have hovered about us almost daily, but nary a drop has come to make lawn sprinkling easier . . . Perhaps us folks who 'ain't a living right,' had' better do something about it .... Then maybe we'll get a shower. --co-- Mrs. Elmer Denver from over Fort Duchesne way came throug with a new meaning for UBIC. She says it could read thusly " U. B. there and I. '11 C. you." --co-- EXCELLENT ADVICE came from the featured speakers at the UBIC last week. Those who were seek-spiritual seek-spiritual council and an answeT to the ills of the world, heard a masterful address from the lips of a fine religious leader. The econoimc, social and industrial future of the great Uintah Basin was given a boost by highly trained men who know and understand under-stand our problems. Each one offered of-fered splendid suggestions that we can't afford not to accept and follow. Our governor came through with an excellent message relative to keeping America strong and free from dictatorial infringements. infringe-ments. . . . We shall be hearing more from these men as time progresses since at least three of them at the moment are seek-in seek-in the governorship of Utah. --co-- Hard work is an accumulation accumula-tion of easy things you didn't do when you should have. .-co-- NOT TOO DISAPPOINTED As near as I have been able to learn from talking to people from this area, not too many of them are disapointed that Highway 50-6 was recommended for the super highway, by the Utah State Road Commission. . . . Governor Lee last Friday suggested it might be "a blessing in disguise" that Highway High-way 40 would now receive more money for building a better road, and the road will still pass through the communities where it now exists We all hope this is right, but nothing ever came without an: effort, and if we want the governor's ideas to become atctual happenings, we must keep on reminding the road commission of our needs and desires. --co-- Women can keep a secret just as long as men, but it generally takes more of them to do it. --co-- If you want to be sure you will hear the phone ringing while you are upstairs, put the instrument on top of an overturned tin pan. -30- |
