Show Slogan For 1954 UBIC 'Economic Stability Through Research, Education I Individual Expansion' A committee composed of Mayor Paul Murphy, Dr. R. V. Larson, Rae Soholes, Dwain Buchanan, Merlin Sullivan, Mrs. Parley Rawlings and Cliff Memmott Tuesday selected the slogan that will be used to build the 1954 Uintah Basin Industrial In-dustrial Convention around. "Ec-onomic Stability Through Research, Education and Individual Indi-vidual Expansion," is the theme and William Borg is the win ning contributor. Following the selection of the slogan a brief business meeting meet-ing of the 1954 UBIC committee commit-tee was held under the direction direc-tion of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Yergensen, co - presidents, at which time several phases of the coming annual event were discussed and the resignation of Mrs. Paul Murphy as secretary secre-tary was accepted. Her successor will be announced by the pres ident as soon as some contacts are made. Plans were made for a speech contest on the slogan, to be held in the schools of the Uintah Uin-tah Basin, Which in the past has been held on every level, elementary, junior high and high schools. Chosen to head this specific committee was Lo-man Lo-man F. Hutchings, principal of Union High School He will be asked to name his own commit- tee and determine how the contest con-test will be carried forth until un-til the end of school. Mr. Borg's slogan was chosen from a contributed group of fine slogans, either of which could have effectively been incorporated incor-porated into the theme of the coming UBIC. Honorable mention men-tion went to Tom Gentry for his contribution, "The Uintah Basin, The Picture Book of the Ages." |
