Show ieetcn-Sennett Mrs. Fern Housion Celebrates 76th Birthday Aug. IS Mrs. Joseph Horrocks celebrated cele-brated her 76th birthday anniversary anni-versary Saturday. Her children, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Horrocks, visited vis-ited her at Lapoint. Our friend and neighbor, Hyrum Hy-rum Gurr, passed away Friday night at the Roosevelt Hospital. He suffered a .stroke earlier in the day from which he did not recover. Mr. Gurr was 72 years old and had been in ill health for several years. Funeral services ser-vices were held at the Neola L D S Church at 1 p. m. Tuesday. Tues-day. Mr. and Mrs. John Haslem attended at-tended the wedding of their granddaughter, Nila Haslem, daughter of Niles Haslem, of Vernal. She was married to Ronald Batty, son of Ivan Batfy, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Monday morning. Douglas Phillips and his mother moth-er spent several days in Salt Lake City , last week. Vesper, Earl and Jim Dia-mond.of Dia-mond.of Springville, visited recently re-cently at the home of Clair Haslem. Has-lem. Vesper is Mrs. Haslem's brother, the others are her cousins. cous-ins. Garr Bolton, Boy Scout leader, lead-er, took his troop to Green Lakes last week for a 4-day outing. out-ing. Making the trip were Shor ty Springer, DeRae Hall, Bobby Long and Bruce Bowen. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hartle, of Lapoint, visited last week wHn their daughter, Mrs. Carl Hall. The Bennett ball team played Myton at Myton Saturday. The score was 3 to 0 in favor of Myton. My-ton. Next game will be Satur day, with Ouray on their own diamond. Mrs. Fred Hartle and Revn Hall spent Thursday visiting in Vernal. Billy and Myron Haslem, Lorraine Lor-raine Long and Catherine Hall were the 4-H Club members from here who attended the 3-day 3-day encampment at Big Park Uintah Canyon, recently, along with 250 members from other clubs. Mrs. Johnny Sur, of Golden, Colo., stopped recently for a short visit with her sister, Mrs. W. H. Coltharp. Her daughter, Frances Jane, accompanied her to Golden, where she will visit for some time before returning to Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Haslem and family, of Pasadena, spent a week's vacation recently with Mr. Haslem's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Haslem. Mrs. Otis Horrocks visited Thursday - with Mrs. Evelyn Brighton at Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Nick Harm-ston Harm-ston left last week for a short vacation trip to Southern California.. Cal-ifornia.. They will meet Mr. and Mrs. Gray in San Diego and go with them to Mexico before returning. |
