Show 2 Myton Brothers Serving Aboard The USS Lofberg Two sons of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Edwards of Myton are serving together in Uncle Sam's Navy. However, there is nothing noth-ing particularly unusual about that situation but the fact that Wayne and Morris Jenkins are serving' aboard the same ship makes a pretty good story. Wayne and Morris are now headed for Mare Island on the USS Lofberg, according to their mother. Both boys enlisted in the Navy Wayne on Oct. .18, 1948, and Morris on March 3, 195p. Wayne spent the first four months at Kodiak, Alaska, then, after a 40-day leave, went to Guam to spend the rest of his first year. His second year was spent at Pearl Harbor and Guam. He was active in the evacuation of troops in the Korean Ko-rean theatre and served . on transport vessles until his four years had been completed. He received an honorable discharge, came home for 30 days, and re-enlisted. re-enlisted. Morris took his boot training at San Diego far seven weeks. Then after a 10-day leave, returned re-turned to San Diego and spent most of his time since then, until un-til his assignment to the USS Lofberg, there and at Treasure Island. |
