Show F.lyton Soldier Awarded Bronze Star In Korea Cpl. Ralph A. Kettle, of My-ton, My-ton, was recently awarded the Bronze Star Medal in Korea. He was cited for heroism in action ac-tion with the 7th Infantry Division Di-vision when, although wounded, he moved his, machine gun from position to position under heavy enemy fire to give better support sup-port to his squad. Corporal Kettle distinguished himself near Chichon, Korea. His citation reads in part: "With complete disregard for his personal safety, and in the face of heavy enemy small-arms and mortar fire, Corporal Ket-tl Ket-tl moved his machine gun from position to position to give the best support possible. In doing this, he received .wounds from the enemy mortar and automatic-weapons fire. Disregarding his injuries, he continued his supporting fire and remained with the squad for the remainder remain-der of the attack. "The heroic actions qi Corporal Cor-poral Kettle reflect great credit on himself and the military service." ser-vice." He also holds the Korean Service Ribbon with one campaign cam-paign star, the United Nations Service Ribbon, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. |
