Show SEASONAL CHATTER By Sugar 'N Spice I "FISHING HAS NEVER been ! better," Tuck Labrum states af-1 ter his trip to "the lakes." And! we have never seen a more ' beautiful array of fish than the I ones he was exhibiting on Main I Street Friday including East-! ern Erook and Native trout, ranging all the way from 15 to 22 inches. Must have a special fishing technique or a secret hole, as other fishermen from the lakes haven't been so successful. suc-cessful. Did you hear, however, that Les Swain has a pet beaver dam in Uinta Canyon where he never fails to get his limit. VERY COMPLIMENTARY were the remarks made Sunday evening by a young man from Boston in regards to our town As he sat at the piano dpwn at the Grill Cafe playing a few of his favorite tunes, he recalled having read of western towni, but said he never dreamed hfl would find his visit to them so exciting. He described Roosevelt Roose-velt as both "interesting and I beautiful." I SORRY TO HEAR that the! Paynes are leaving us. We have enjoyed having them in Roosevelt Roos-evelt and will miss them, but wish them happiness in their new home. SATURDAY NIGHT celebrations celebra-tions were forgotten bv worried parents of 4-H'ers last week when their children failed to return re-turn home on schedule. Understand Under-stand they organized a posse to cover each route to Wolf Creek and were just leaving Bridge-land Bridge-land to begin the search when they received word that the group had arrived home, tired, and unaware of all the excitement excite-ment they had caused. INTERESTING COMPARISONS COMPARI-SONS were made by Bert in discussing dis-cussing time spent on tois Bermuda Ber-muda trip. It seems it took as much time to drive from Chicago Chi-cago to the airport and back as it did to fly from Chicago to New York. Six hours were spent flying from Chicago to Salt Lake and three driving from Salt Lake to Roosevelt. It's flying for Bert and Yvonne from now on especially when they want to save time. COOPERATION WITH Ta 1 Wardle is going to be the thing that will make our next year's UBIC a success. After the outstanding out-standing event this year it would be unheard of to drop it for want of someone to sponsor it. Good luck, Tal! FORTUNATE PRISCILLA has not let the heat interfere with her entertaining this summer. Her cool, comfortably furnished basement has been the scene of many outstanding parties. Occasionally Oc-casionally her friends assume hostess duties there, and a!l agree that it is the perfect spot for hot weather, We'll remember remem-ber that when we build our dream house. PINEAPPLE MIXED with ap plesauce and just a touch of lemon juice sounds good. Lecta Horrocks said we must try it. She bottles it every fall and her husband swears by the pies she turns out with it. BAND SUITS for Union High are being financed by the tickets you buy for the August 22 carnival, car-nival, so be prepared to support it. Many people have worked diligently to make this event a success, and when you see those good-looking suits next winter at Union, you'll be glad you helped buy them. EXPECTING A GUEST soon are the many friends and relatives rela-tives of Mary Dillman Eldredge. She plans to spend a few days in Roosevelt enroute to Denver, where she will visit with her parents. I know of a couple of grandparents in town who are going to be especially happy to see the young ones. EXCITEMENT WAS HIGH over the weekend when our local road patrolmen were or dered by the FBI to make a road blockade on the highway west of town. It seems one Wm. Martin wanted for killing a deputy sheriff, was reported seen in Heber and our officers were joining in the search. Each car was given the stop signal and it was quite a dramatic sight to see Carl with his shotgun shot-gun walk up to each car to examine ex-amine its occupants in search of the fugitive. A short distant; away Rowe McDonald and Clarence Clar-ence Chidister stood by the patrol pa-trol car, armed and ready for any emergency, while Sherman handled he blinding spotlight, which stopped each car. This scene, which to the residents res-idents of town was unusually exciting, ex-citing, was very common in the lives of our officers. I wonder if we fully appreciate the effort they put forth and the risks they take in performing their duties. At 2:30 a. m. this particular search stopped officers concluded con-cluded that the criminal had back-tracked. AMONG FORTUNATE home builders are Ida and Fran they plan to break ground this week on their lot by the John Blaines. j Their house plan is daring and most convenient. RAINBOW RANDEVU in Salt I Lake is on the lips of a great share of the younger set this week seems that was the most divine spot last Saturday night for Sherry and Carolyn D. (Mv-ton), (Mv-ton), Peggy O., Yvonne C. Dale L., Arvin L., Steve P. and Steve E. |
