Show tfltchah Mrs. Ethel Beeb Hailstorm Takes Crops In Area One of the most terrible hail and rain storms ever seen in these parts hit Altonah Aug. 10. It completely destroyed crops and gardens in many parts of this area. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Maxfield left Friday for a visit with relatives rel-atives in Carbon, Wayne and Emery counties. They were accompanied ac-companied by their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Timothy and two small sons, of Bonanza. George Carroll has purchased a new GMC 'truck. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Corbin and sons went to Salt Lake City Friday. Mrs. Corbin and chit-1 dren stayed in Salt Lake City, while Mr. Corbin went on to Ogden to attend the prize fight between Rex Lane and Ezzard Charles. Mr. and Mrs. Von Timothy and son, Dean, of Bonanza, spent the weekend with relatives rel-atives here. Rex Fowler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse A. Fowler, left Monday, Mon-day, Aug. 11, to report for service ser-vice with the armed forces. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Murray and family, of Bluebell, were visitors at Sacrament Meeting Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Snyder and family, of Omaha, Neb,, left Saturday for their home, after a week's visit with Mr. Snyder's mother, Mrs. Elva Snyder, and other relatives. ' Mr. and Mrs. Clenty Ames attended the Allred reunion at Big Cottonwood Canyon Sunday. Sun-day. On Monday they went on to Idaho Falls, Idaho, to visit for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hayes and children, of Salt Lake City, spent the weekend with Mrs. Hayes' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse A. Fowler, and her brother. broth-er. Rex, before he left for the Army. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Burgess returned last week from a vacation vaca-tion trip through Idaho, Washington Wash-ington and Oregon. Dale Carroll visited friends in Vernal Sunday. W. B. Stoddard, of Randlett, called at the Gilbert Beebe home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Potts and daughters, of Logan, and Lloyd Snyder, of Salt Lake City, were weekend visitors at the home of their mother, Mrs. Elva Snyder. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bow-den Bow-den were in Vernal Tuesday on business. Mr. and Mrs. James Powell and family, of Cedarview, visited vis-ited in Altonah Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hopkin, of Woodruff, and some friends. Mr. and Mrs. Nielson, of Spanish Fork, visited recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Beebe. Mrs. Marian Reese entertained a gToup of boys and girls at a party in honor of the Kolb twins, Tipane and Karren. It was their 10th birthday anniversary. anni-versary. Refreshments and games were enjoyed by those ' present. Albert Rochel and Dru All-red All-red received medical care in Duchesne Friday. Hugo Mitchell, of Upalco, was an Altonah visitor Friday Albert Snyder returned to his work at Geneva Steel plant Friday, Fri-day, after a 2-week vacation spent with his mother, Mrs. Elva Snyder.
