Show Banking Official Warns Kiwanians To Stop Spending Charles H. Dixon, vice president presi-dent and cashier of the Commercial Com-mercial Bank of Utah, last night in an address before the Roosevelt Roose-velt Kiwanis club, warned the membership that it was up to them to put a stop to the present government spending, and demand de-mand a return to the standard of economic security the people are entitled to. Mr. Dixon made a hurried inventory in-ventory of the summer of 1952 and quoted figures that were astounding, which showed that our government plans to spend in one year from July 1, $79 billion, which he said, "is almost al-most double all the gold pro- duced in the world in 4C0 j years. Our government spent more money in the last four peace-time years than it spent in its entire history up to our entry into World War II," Mr. Dixon said. "It will take 'grass roots' work to do the job, the same as was done when we got out and sold millions and millions in Liberty bonds. . . Our very life depends on the action of every American citizen," he concluded. The meeting was presided over by Floyd Peterson, president, presi-dent, who announced the club voted to support the tour of ths Utah Young Farmers and also to assist in buying a gift for each girl entered in the "Miss Duchesne County" contest, which Is a part of the Coun'v Fair. |
