Show THE BENCH FARMER KEEP OUR MONEY IN BASIN The U B I C committee tells me they carefully selected a program pro-gram to keep what money they spent right here in the Basin. A scholarship was given in an oratorical contest. Valuable prizes priz-es were given to encourage boys and girls to develop their talents. tal-ents. The whole program was planned to encourage education to make your everyday life a little better by having participated partici-pated in or just by attending the Uintah Basin Industrial Convention. Conven-tion. After so carefully working to this end, I wonder if the committee com-mittee didn't feel a little let down when a Carnival spent the biggest part of a week undoing what they had tried to accomplish. accom-plish. I'll bet my old hat that the Carnival people had well filled pockels when they moved out and that the business houses of the Basin feel a slight depression. depres-sion. The two programs should be contrasted by all civic minded people of the Basin. They should carefully evaluate them and let it be known which they feci will do the Basin the most good. Did you see that magnificent Hereford steer that Kent Robi-son Robi-son had at the U B I C for Mar-den Mar-den Broadbent to trim up and prepare for show. I'm sure .Kent won't miss a chance to show him off at the County Fair, so if you failed to see him at the UBIC, you will probably get another chance at the Duchesne County Fair on Sept. 5 and 6. The summer is slipping by with never a dull moment. My 9-year-old son, Perry, has hay fever and my 14-year-old daughter, daugh-ter, Ann, has "he" fever. It will soon be time for the Fair and Louis Jensen says all cattle over six months old that are to be exhibited must be tested for bangs, and he must be notified immediately. The testing will be done free of charge. Let's all go to the Fair this year and make it one Duchesne County can be proud of. The Bench Farmer |
