Show M Men Teams Gain Stake Honors The two basketball teams of the Neola MIA brought favorable recognition to our ward, by their accomplishments . in- the recent . tournament. Of the four sportsmanship sports-manship trophies given, two were presented to this ward, one to the M Men team and one to the Explorers. Ex-plorers. The latter group was also declared winners of the Explorer teams of the Stake and received another trophy for this achievement. achieve-ment. All three were displayed at Fast meeting last Sunday, where Bishop LeRoy Gardner, who is also Explorer leader, commented briefly upon them and their significance. sig-nificance. The team was com posed of the following boys: Explorers, Ex-plorers, Glendon Malnar, Claude and Ferrell Crozier, Ardell Olsen, Larry and Norman Dye, Keith Davis, Von Whiting, and Ronald Mitchell; M Men, Merril Dutson, Clair Duncan, Gerald Henrie, Blaine Horrocks, Tom Hacking and Neill Duncan. Two baby boys received names in meeting last Sunday. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson was christened chris-tened "Rick J." by his uncle, Charles Crozier. Lester Gardner bestowed the name of "Wesley Shane" on his grandson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Labrum of Roosevelt. Forrest Hancock and children, of Pleasant Valley, were Sunday visitors at the home of her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whiting. Whit-ing. The two families were also dinner guests at the John A. Olsen Ol-sen home. Mrs. Verle Haslem spent the past week in Blanding, visiting with her brother-in-law and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Haslem. Greeting friends here recently were Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Wil-kerson Wil-kerson and family, of Shiprock, New Mexico. They made a brief stay over the -weekend, returning to their home Sunday afternoon. COLLECTING BOOKS A community project to increase in-crease the number of books available avail-able in the school library got underway last Monday evening. An entertaining movie was shown, with admission being a book suitable suit-able for elementary pupils. |
