Show Voodroiv Kelson Takes Over SCS Position Feb. 7th Woodrow Nielson assumed duties du-ties of Unit Conservationist for the Roosevelt office Monday, Feb. 7, filling a vacancy caused by the resignation of Don B. Nielson early last fall. Mr. Nielson was transferred to Roosevelt from Og-den Og-den where he had been stationed since July, 1954. Mr. Nielson, a native of Eph-raim, Eph-raim, graduated from Ephraim High School and attended Snow College five quarters and is a graduate of the Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural College. He was with the SCS three and one-half years following fol-lowing his graduation from the USAC, and then became associated associat-ed with the Bureau of Reclamation in land classification work. He remained with the reclamation service until July 1954, when he re-joined SCS. While with the Reclamation Service Mr. Nielson was located in North Dakota and Montana doing do-ing land classification work. Prior to going with the B. R. he was with the SCS in Arizona. Active In Church An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Nielson filled a mission mis-sion in Denmark from 1935 to 1938, being called while a student stu-dent at Snow College, leaving at the end of the winter quarter in 1935. Upon his return from Denmark Den-mark he enrolled at the USAC. While residing in Montana, Mr. Nielson was president of the Miles, Montana branch. As soon as housing facilities can be provided Mr. Nielson will move his wife, the former Leah Boyer of Coalville, and his daughter, daugh-ter, Sharlene, 5, and son, Paul, 3, to Roosevelt. Mrs. Nielson has also al-so been very active in the church, having served as a Relief Society president and in other capacities in the auxiliaries. Since the resignation of Don Nielson from the SCS, who purchased pur-chased a farm in the Ballard area, John Swenson has acted as unit conservationist. |
