Stone, superintendent of the Uintah-Ouray Indian agency ag-ency as the Standard was going go-ing to press today, carried the information that the per-capita per-capita payment to the Ute Indians In-dians of the Uintah Basin would' be made next Wednesday, Wednes-day, Oct. 24, between the hours of 9 a. m. and 5 p. m. According to Mr. Stone, payments will be made at Randett, Myton, Whiterocks. Ouray and Fort Duchesne. He further announced that approximately $500,000 would . be released that day, which is only a part of the money coming to the Ute tribe. The remainder of the allotment will be paid as rapidly as the individual tribe members request re-quest it. ' A definite plea is being made to the Indians and to the merchants in the Basin to use judgment in handling this large sum of money. A program of education has been carried out the past several sev-eral weeks since the allotment allot-ment became certain, among members of the tribe asking them to invest their money I wiselv. Business peoole are urged to be prepared to' assist the tribe members in an intelligent intel-ligent shopping program and to sell them the "best" merchandise mer-chandise possible. |
