Hansen, chairman of the Department of Speech and Dramatic Arts at BYU. Dr. Hansen Han-sen is nationally noted for his direction of the annual Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra, New York. He was formerly a member of the speech department depart-ment of Utah State Agriculture College at Logan. Leading roles in the play will be taken by Anne Culli-more, Culli-more, Provo, as Katherine, the shrew, and Ralph Lundgreen, Preston, Idaho, as her "tamer," Petruchio. Bianca, Katherine's younger sister, will be played by Darlene Capson, Moreland, Idaho. "Taming of the Shrew" is a comedy into which the spectator can easily project himself into the part of one of the chief characters. Although the language lan-guage used is slightly more stilted stilt-ed than that used today, the characters are all warmly human hu-man men and women and the spectator can easily see himself in the place of any one of them. For this reason perhaps, this comedy is one of Shakespeare's most popular. After a four-niht run at the BYU campus on Nov. 4-7, the play moved to Salt Lake City, Payson, Richfield and Manti for weekend shows. i |
