Show This Week's RECIPE . . . It is time to be thinking about your Christmas fruit cake if you are looking for an excellent ex-cellent recipe, try the following which has been . submitted by Mrs. Leland Goodrich, of Bluebell. Blue-bell. FRUIT CAKE (Makes 5 Loaves) 2 cups granulated sugar 1 cup brown sugar 3 cups sour cream 5 eggs 1 cup molasses 2 lbs. seeded raisins 2 lbs. seedless raisins L )b,- currants. 1 lb. gum drops, cut fruit mix if desired 1 lbs. nuts, chopped (Dates, jam, figs, or candied cherries may be added) 8 cups flour, sifted 3 tsp. soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. each of cloves, cinnamon, cinna-mon, alspice, nutmeg Cream sugar, eggs and sour cream. Add molasses, then floured fruit and nuts. Sift flour with remaining dry ingredients and add last. Blend well and pour into greased loaf pans. Bake 2 hours in moderate oven (350 deg.) |
