Show Witnesses Plan For Convention In Salt Lake City The Central Unit Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located lo-cated at 986 South Fourth East, has been transformed into a bustling business office to serve as convention headquarters for the coming "Peace-pursuing District Dis-trict Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses" Wit-nesses" to be held at the Utah State Fairgrounds Coliseum on August 4 to 7. Twenty-one departments have been organized under the direction direc-tion of Matthew M. Kolar, district dis-trict supervisor for Jehovah's Witnesses, who is serving as convention con-vention manager. Mr. Kolar is no newcomer to conventions, having headed the Information Department Depart-ment for the 1958 world convention conven-tion of Jehovah's Witnesses in New York's Yankee Stadium and th Polo Grounds, which drew a record attendance of 253,922. In an interview Mr. Kolar stated, "Months of preparation are necessary nec-essary for a convention of this size for smooth-runnig operation. Our present office force varies from 50 to 60 workers and operates oper-ates for more than 12 hours each day. The staff will be growing as we near the convention dates and will eventually include volunteer workers from as far away as Denver and Boise." "The Central Unit Congregation Congrega-tion is presently sharing the Kingdom Hall of the South Unit, located at 470 Stanley Avenue, in order to make room for the convention headquarters. All were happy to make this temporary tempor-ary adjustment in order to assist in pre-convention preparations. The meeting schedule remains unchanged," Mr Kolar continued, "with the exception of the Watch-tower Watch-tower Bible Study which has been moved up from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday evening in order or-der not to interfere with the South Unit meeting." Pilncipal function of the convention con-vention headquarters involves the listing and assigning of rooming accommodations for upwards of 6,000 delegates "expected to attend. at-tend. Mr. Kolar concluded, "We are already processing requests for rooms from distant parts of the United States and a few from Canada." |
