A - .- .. ..... TO VISIT EUROPE Owen Wright and Darrell Cook will visit foreign lands with CAP cadets from throughout the United States. Pleasant Grove Boys Selected To Tour Foreign Lands with CAP Two Pleasant Grove boys have been named to join a group of other American youths to tour i foreign lands in the national Civil I Air Patrol Exchange beginning ! in July. The trip is an allex- i . pense tour lasting 30 days. j The two, chosen from the- out- ! standing cadets of the state, were ' Darrell J. Cook, son of Mr. and I Mrs. Jack E. Cook and Owen i Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. .William A. Wright. Both have re- ! ceived certificates of proficiency. Cadet Cook, who is serving as ( executive officer of the Ameri can Fork squadron of the CAP, . will spend a month's tour in Den. j mark. Cadet Wright, who is cadet commander of the American Fork squadron and a member of the advisory board, will spend his 30-day 30-day tour in England. Mr. Cook, a graduate of the Pleasant Grove High School, last May, has been active in CAP for the past three years. He also holds the rank of Eagle Scout and is a holder of the Back to God award for service in his church activities. Mr. Wright graduated from the Pleasant Grove High School in 1959 and spent the last year attending at-tending BYU, where he was active ac-tive in the ROTC program. He plans to make a career in the U.S. Air Force. The boys will leave Denver July 16 for a trip to Washington, Washing-ton, D.C. Hene they will join other CAP cadets--front-over the -nation to embark for Europe. According to officers of the American Fork CAP this is the first time in history that two cadets from a unit as small as American Fork's have been sent on the Foreign Exchange. There are currently 20 cadets in the American Fork unit. During the past two summers, both Wright and Cook have spent a total of 18 days at the CAP cadet encampment at Mountain Home, Idaho. Both were chosen for the Foreign Exchange largely large-ly because of their outstanding activities in "Intel-rogation" and First Aid. |
