Show Young Farmers Complete Fire Fight School The Timpanogos Chapter of Young Farmers working through the Central Utah Vocational School at Provo with Fred H. Oornaby as chapter advisor, sponsored spon-sored a - successful fire fighting school at Pleasant Grve High School Friday evening and Saturday Sat-urday afternoon, June 24 and 25. Some 30 interested Young Farmers and High School graduates grad-uates of the surrounding area attended at-tended on Friday evening in which County Fire Warden Darrell Dar-rell Stanley showed two Forest Service Training films on fire control and State Warden Nyal Wadley talked on fire fighting techniques and the proper use of machiner yin the control of brush and rangeland fires. On Saturday afternoon the group met above Manila where an imaginary fire was marked off by lime and four crews selected to enclose it with fire guard trails. Some 25 were present for Saturday's Sat-urday's training program and each participant was taught his role in the fire control procedure. At Saturday's meeting District Forest Supervisor Mike Wright of Pleasant Grove gave instructions instruc-tions on how to dress, individual safety, and demonstrated the proper use of the pulaski and fire shovel. State Young Farmer President, Max Radmall of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, was in attendance as was Timpanogos Chapter president presi-dent Dean Adams of Lindon. At the conclusion of the training train-ing program the group drove to the South Fork Ranger Station in American Fork Canyon and engaged in an outdoor picnic furnished by the Forest Service. |
