Show AAUW Meeting Held Feb. 4 at June Monsons The American Association of University Women held its monthly mon-thly meeting Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the home of June Monson. After matters of business were conducted by the president, Bethel Beth-el Allred, the group enjoyed a discussion on the fourth lesson in its cuiTent study course, "Jefferson "Jeffer-son and Economic Freedom." The moderator was Retta Crease. Jefferson felt that a self-sufficient farmer was the most independent inde-pendent of all men. He felt that merchandising and marketing should be used only slightly to supplement the needs of these farmers. Jefferson did a great deal to change laws of primo-g-nture and entail, which allowed a man's oldest son to receive the whole estate, and permitted it to be sold only a whole and not divided. By changing these laws, Jefferson felt that the small farmer far-mer could progress. After the discussion tasty refreshments re-freshments were served by hostesses hos-tesses June and Bemice Monson to those mentioned and others present, Mary Mitchell, Thelma Martell, Leone Carson, Ruth Bez-zant, Bez-zant, Genevieve Emal, Marjorie Holdaway, Margaret Hayes, Jen- nle Gieason, Winona Kirk, Deane Paulson, Mildred Ferre and Sharon Shar-on Beck. |
