Show Elysium Club Hears About Civil Defense Elysium Club members received receiv-ed valuable information on the civil defense program Wednesday evening when they met with Mrs. Jackie Brady at her home and listened to Harold S. Walker, civil defense director, tell of plans and work in taking cai-e of oneself in time of disaster. President Mary Lou Gardiner presided. Pearl Gourley offered invocation. LaVon Ingersoll, program pro-gram chairman, introduced the speaker. Mr. Walker explained and discussed dis-cussed the fallout as particles of matter in the air made radioactive radio-active by nuclear explosions. Knowing what to do at the right time, may save lives. As a safeguard, Mr. Walker recommended recom-mended preparing an underground under-ground shelter, with a 7 day supply sup-ply of food and water, a radio, preferably battery operated, etc. After the very informative talk by Mr. Walker a dainty tray lunch was served to 17 club members, mem-bers, the guest speaker and Mrs. Walker. |
