Ash and Edna Newman of Grovecrest attended a convention conven-tion for teachers of "Exceptional "Exception-al Children" at th? University of Utah. On the same day, Ford Paulson. Gordon Walker, Velda Anderson. Rose Radmall and Inez In-ez Meservy, attended a science workshop also held ait the U of U in Salt Lake City. ESN Two hundred fifty of the non-teaching non-teaching employees of Alpine District held a dinner-social at Grovecrest last Saturday night. The dinner was prepared by the lunchroom personnel of the Grovecrest and Pleasant Grove High Schools. Dancing was enjoyed en-joyed following an after-dinner program. ESN Mrs. Louise Viklund, lunchroom lunch-room manager at Grovecrest, is much improved after surgery at LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City. ESN Fourth Graders at Grovecrest entertained their parents with a program last Wednesday night. "Utah This is Your Life" was directed by instructors LuG-ene. Cowan and Prod Pryor. ESN Pedestrian lanes are being painted at the four corners of the Central School lot. The project pro-ject is a joint activity of the PTA and the City Police. ESN Patriotic films are being shown at Central this week. Tuesday a film furnished by the local Post 70 American Legion, "The Stars and Stripes" 'was shown. On Wednesday, "America the Beautiful" was shown and Mrs. Paul Blackhurst presented a record, rec-ord, "Star Spangled Banner," courtesy of the local Farm Bureau. ESN The talk given by Representative Representa-tive Ernest Dean at the; Feb. 5 meeting of the Central PTA -was much enjoyed. Don Hansen's Fourth Graders entertained with songs and Miss Janelle Brim-hall Brim-hall played xylophone numbers. ESN Colored individual photos of Central School students were delivered de-livered Tuesday. ESN Parents of pre-kindergarten students who were not enumerated enumer-ated on the 1958 school census should get in touch with the Elementary Principals of their respective areas at onoe. These children should be 5 years of age by October 31, 1959. ESN February 2 to 6 was Courtesy Week at Lindon School: Days were designated as "Golden Rule," "Please and Thank You," "Be Happy," "Find a Friends," and "Congratulations." The days wer) advertised by posters and skits. ESN Golden Jackman of Provo Fire Deapartment visited Lindon recently. re-cently. He talked to the students on fire safety. Following his talk the kindergarten and First Graders Gra-ders visited the Pleasant Grove Fire Department and Post Office. ESN Reed Thomas, returned missionary mis-sionary from Denmark, talked to Lindon Sixth Grade last week about the Danish people and their customs. Arrangements were made by Ronnie Wall. ESN Faculty members of Lindon School enjoyed a party at William Will-iam M. Vernon's new home in Or-em Or-em recently. The 'committee in charge consisted of Mr. Vernon, Eldene Taylor, Marjorie Lott and Rena Keetch. ESN Lindon students are learning how to brush their teeth properly by using the denture models and brush donated by the local Health Council. |
