Show Harveys Return From Reclamation Meetings in Texas Mr. and Mrs. Leo Harvey ne-tumed ne-tumed Saturday after spending five, days in Washington, D.C. and five days In Houston, Texas. While in the national eapitol Mr. Harvey attended a board of directors meeting of the National Reclamation Association of which he Is a member, representing Utah. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss current problems and to hear reports of the Secretary Secre-tary of the Interim- and the Commisioner of Reclamation, relative rel-ative to what aid might be expected ex-pected from these agencies during dur-ing the current year. A second purpose of the Washington Wash-ington meeting was to gain approval ap-proval of the Interior and Insular In-sular Affairs Committees of the proposed reclamation program of the Western States. Mr. Harvey stated that the National Na-tional Board of Directors recommended recom-mended that all money accruing from the reclamation projects be kept in a special fund for reclamation recla-mation purposes and not be returned re-turned to the general fund. At Houston, Mr. Harvey attended at-tended a convention of the National Na-tional Association of soil conservation conser-vation distriots of the 49 states. The chief purpose of this convention con-vention was a study of .the soil and water resources of the United Unit-ed States and the best methods of using and conserving the same. The convention was attended by 2,500 representatives of the 2,806 conservation districts in the country. "One of the biggest problems facing the American people is .the conservation of our water and soil resources for the future," Mr. Harvey said. |
