Show New Line of Ford Trucks Announced Ford introduces the broadest line of trucks in the company's 50 year history when, its 1953 all-new trucks go on display at Alpine Motor Company here and throughout the United States March 13, local Ford dealer Harold Har-old Holley said yesterday. Covering the widest range of ratings and designed for the greatest economy and driver comfort ever known in a commercial com-mercial vehicle, the 1953 Ford trucks will be offered in four distinct lines, in 20 new series and in more than 190 models. ' All of the new trucks will feature fea-ture new, one-piece curved windshields largest in their field with swept-back pillar posts and 55 per cent greater visibility. And the new F-100 Series of light duty trucks will be equipped for the first time with Fordomatic fully-automatic transmissions or automatic overdrive as optional equipment. "Our 1953 truck line represents repre-sents an investment of more ' than $50,000,000 in research, development, de-velopment, engineering, testing and dies and tools as well as more than four years of hard work," L. D. Crusoe, vice president presi-dent of Ford Motor Co. "Every truck in the 1953 line has been completely redesigned with a revolutionary new approach ap-proach to truck engineering the driver himself. In our new trucks every component effecting effect-ing driver fatigue has been designed de-signed and engineered not only to do its job better and to last longer, but also to ease the burden bur-den on the driver to make his job simpler and less tiring and to permit him to get his job done faster and with corresponding savings in operating costs. "We have placed all the experience ex-perience and know-how gained by Ford as the builder of more than 17,000,000 commercial vehicles ve-hicles for the American road into these trucks. Before introducing intro-ducing them to the public we have tested them over more than 300,000 miles of highways in all parts of the country from Arizona's desert roads to the Allegheny mountains. And we believe these new trucks will revolutionize the industry". The 1953 Ford trucks range from 4,000 lbs. to 27,000 lbs. GVW and up to 55,000 lbs. GCW ratings rat-ings in the new F-900 Series, the largest truck ever built by Ford and a 1953 addition to the Ford truck line. Outstanding features of aty the 1953 Ford trucks, according to L. W. Smead, general sales manager of Ford Division, are the completely new "driverized" cabs and the elimination of double-clutching through use of new synchro-silent transmissions transmis-sions on all models. Also shorter wheelbases, wider front treads and repositioning of springs make all 1953 Ford trucks easier to handle and to 6teer, more maneuverable and with shorter turning radius. t Other important features, Mr. Smead said, are a 4-ft. wide rear windows; new wider seats with 5 feet of hip room comfortably seating three men; exclusive Ford counter-shock seat snub-bers snub-bers which absorb road shocks for a softer, smoother ride; greater ease of servicing all models mo-dels and Ford's exclusive offering offer-ing of either three V-8 or two 6-cylinder modern high compression comp-ression engines noted for their economical operation. Engines range from 101 h. p. to 155 h. p. The four basic lines of 1953 Ford trucks are: Conventional F-Series: F-100 pick-up, panel, stalce and other models, available with .a choice of five transmissions including Fordomatic and automatic overdrive over-drive for the first time; F-250 and F-350 light duty; F-500 and F-600 heavy duty; and F-700, F-750, F-800 and F-900, extra heavy duty "Big Jobs" offering truckers a greatly increased choice of trucks in this line. Cab-forward C-Series: . C-500, C-600, and two new extra heavy duty series the - C-750 and C-800. This is a new "close-coupled" "close-coupled" design with the engine moved forward 12 inches providing pro-viding a full-width cab seat and eliminating the engine tunnel. This new series provides maximum maxi-mum engine accessibility for service and can haul 35-foot trailers legally in every state. Parcel Delivery P-Series for multi-stop delivery: P-350, and an all-new P-500. A P-600 is available on special order. |
