Show Mrs. Lyean Johnson Is Appointed To County Planning Commission Mrs. Lyean Johnson of Pleasant Grove and Mrs. Grant F. Larsen of Leland have been named to the Utah County Planning Commission, Commis-sion, replacing W. H. Callahan, chairman of the planning board since its organization inl941, and Thomas M. Anderson, Lake Shore fanner. The new appointments were announced an-nounced by Utah County Commission, Commis-sion, and will be effective at the "close of the next regular meeting meet-ing to be held during March." Appreciation for the exceptional services rendered the county by the retiring planning board me n-bers, n-bers, and especially by Mr. Callahan, Cal-lahan, was expressed by the county coun-ty commission. Fellow members of the planning commission also called attention to the "tremendous amount of good" accomplished by Mr. Calla han and Mr. Anderson. Fred Markham, Brigham Young University architect, and veteran member of the planning commission, commis-sion, expressed regret at the loss of Mr. Callahan as chairman. Recently, county commissioners expressed the view that women should be added to the planning commission and that membership should be scattered about the county. This year, Verl G. Dixon, as chairman of the county commission, commis-sion, became ex officio member of the planning commission, giving Provo three of the seven members of the seven-member county board. We, as a community, should feel it a distinct honor to have one of our outstanding local club women wom-en chosen to serve on this important im-portant county board. |
