Provo- and Timpview will be favored in both the boys and girls divisions with the Lady Vikings given an outside chance to take the team title. Last week the Vikes tuned up for the Region meet by beating Springville in a dual meet. Both the boys and girls teams came out on top of the Red Devils. Todd Simmons and Craig Hayden have been looking very good in the high jump and Simmons set a new PGHS record of 6'4'2" recently. Simmons broke Richard Gourlcys mark set in 1980 of 6'4". Hayden has a practice jump of 6'7" and has been consistent in the meets at 6'1". Hayden took first in the Timp Relays meet last week. Simmons won the 200 meters at the Timp meet and has been a steady first place winner in that event an' should be considered the favorite in the Region meet. Rhonda Simmons has one of the betler times in the 300 hurdles and will be the favorite this weekend at Springville. Lila Fugal, Debbie Fisher, Jill West and Ronell Fielding are all expected to battle for first place in their individual events and along with some strong relay teams, the Lady Vikes could be on lop after the last event on Friday afternoon. Brett Henrie has performed well for PG in the 800. Other guys who should pick up points for PG include Tom Adamson, Chris Larsen, Dan Phclon, Greg Slaler, Paul Mat-tinso- n and Cory Atkinson. The State m eet is set for next weekend at Weber State. Football clinic slated for Sat. in P.G. A free football clinic will be held Saturday, May 17, at noon at the Pleasant Grove High School field. Barnett's Sports Line will sponsor the clinic in which all areas of football will be covered.
