Show Local scouts to host ave-a-Life Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and the Timpanogos District of the Boy Scouts of America will host a "Save-a-Life" competition on Saturday, May 17, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on the hospital grounds. Troops throughout the Timpanogos Tim-panogos District are invited, and top-scoring patrols in the first aid competition will win prizes. The registration fee is $1 per person, which includes a patch. Competition will be held in performing per-forming CPR, splinting broken bones, controlling bleeding, treating burns, performing the Heimlich maneuver and transporting an injured person on a stretcher. Participants must bring their own materials needed to compete in the events. Several types of emergency vehicles will also be on display for scouts to learn about the services of Emergency Medical Technicians.
