Entertainment En-tertainment was by Connie Grace from Lehi. She sang some western songs and played her guitar. Organist Elizabeth Anderson played a medley of old tunes as the prelude music. Prayer was offered by Rebecca Watson. Captain Atkinson then took care of some business.. There will be a meeting Monday, May 19, fro the Tri-County DUP held in Provo at the Pioneer 1st Ward at 395 N. 300 West at 10 a.m. with a luncheon to be held at noon. Plans were discussed for the bake sale to be held on Strawberry Day, June 19, after the morning parade. Every member was willing and anxious to furnish items for the sale. Some are already busy making baby quilts and many other articles to be sold in connection with the bake sale. The proceeds are to be used in repairing the relic hall. The lesson was given by Geneva Peterson about the early stores in Utah. The very first store in Salt Lake was set up in the home of John Pack in 1849. The second was also in a home in 1853. Most of the business was handled by bartering because of the scarcity of money. The lesson was so interesting that it caused most of the group to recall some very humorous experiences which the group enjoyed. |
