Show Local wrestler travels to Japan for training the shortest time. He was named as a third team All American while at Iowa State He did his junior college wrestling at North Idaho State College which won the junior college NCAA championship cham-pionship in wrestling while he was there. Daryl, 24, said that it is an honor for him to be selected to go to Japan. A Canadian wrestler will also be making the trip with him. He explained that wrestling is the big sport in Japan. Occasionally they take an American to train and Daryl was chosen to go. He was then asked to go on tour with the Japanese wrestlers. This will be a training period for Daryl. At the end of the three months training period with the Japanese, he will probably wrestle in Europe. He hopes then to be able to return to Japan for more wrestling experience. ex-perience. He said he felt he could become a polished wrestler there. Daryl noted that most professional wrestlers follow some type of regimentation to get started and this will be his. He added that his amateur background was what caught the eye of the Japanese promotors. Daryl, who performed in "Takedown", a movie about high school wrestling which was filmed in Utah County, is married to the former Rene Mahedy. They are the parents of three boys and are now expecting another child. Daryl has lots of hobbies and his goals are to write, produce and direct films, and also become an actor.
