Show Review - Wednesday, September 11, 1985 - Page 10 Sophs roll over Dons in contest Pleasant Groves sophomores gained 226 yards on the ground and 149 in the air to roll over Spanish Fork 27-- 7 Thursday in Spanish Fork. The young Vikes scored on their first possession with Justin John-ston going in from the two yard line. The point after kick was wide. PG drove to the Don 11 yard line the next time they got the ball and on fourth down, David Flinders tossed a screen pass to Scott Flinderss for the touchdown. Brett West flattened a S.F. defender to give S. Flinders clear sailing into the endzone and Johnston kicked kthe point after for a 13-- 0 first period lead. Johnston set up the third PG touchdown when he followed a Jon Chidester block up the m iddle on a third and long, good for 34 yards. D. Flinders put the ball in the endzone from the two yard line on a quar- - the third period to make the score 20-- PG took the following kickoff and a Burke Watkins to Darren Gilbert "flea flicker" pass, that covered 38 yards, set up the games final score, a two-yar- d run by Johnston. Johnston carried 15 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns to highlight the PG ground game. The sophomore fullback also kicked three p.a.t.'s. During the game, 10 different Viking players carried the ball and five different P.G. receivers caught passes. "David (Flinders) does an ex-cellent job of running the team from his quarterback spot," said Viking sophomore offensive coach Jack Hill. "He calls about 90 percent of the plays," Hill added. SAF fundraising campaign underway The S.A.F. has planned a fund raising campaign to help prevent crimes against children. S.A.F. is a non-prof- it organization comprised of emergency and survival professionals who provide in-formation that helps the public prepare for general survival and emergency situations. Funds will be raised through the sale of an emergency readiness guide called; Project: Home Help, published by S.A.F. The fund raising campaign begins Sept. 3, 1985. Photo by Tim Johnson. JV outlast Spanish Fork Shawn Young triggered a 32 point first half scoring purt that led PG's junior varsity to a 32-- 7 win over Spanish Fork Thursday. Coach Bobby Salazar, this year's jv head man, saw his team roll over, through and around the visitors for the big halftime lead and coast to victory in their first game.
