Show Hailing elected to health care office Joyce Hailing, owner of Lindon Care and Training Center, has been elected as Chairman of the Board of the Utah Health Care Association of Utah at the 24th annual convention of the organization held in Salt Lake City on Sept. 4, 5, and 6. She was elected by her peers who are administrators of long-term care facilities in the state. There are over 90 members in Utah representing the entire nursing home industry. Her term of office will be one year. She has been a member of the organization for five years. In her new position, Joyce will be dealing with issues having to do with the long-term care industry, promoting quality patient care, representing Utah at the American Health Care Association conference, and meeting with legislators and various state health care financing officials. She said that the issues that are facing the long-term care industry with increased regulations and budget cutbacks will be her concerns con-cerns for the coming year. The Utah Board meets once a month and is comprised of three chapters, Weber, Salt Lake and Utah. There are 12 seats on the board. Only four positions are full time employment, Joyce noted. Her's is not one' of them. Dennis McFall is the organization president. Joyce said she is very excited about the position and is looking forward to serving the long-term care industry in any way she can. As owner of the Lindon Care and Training Center, Joyce is in charge of a 66 bed facility for women who are mentally retarded, and hires 50 empoyees. ' She is also the owner of a geriatric facilty, the Provo Care Center, in Provo. This is a 35-bed nursing home for men and women. She assists with administration and does departmental depart-mental supervision on a consulting basis. She has completed training as a licensed vocational nurse and as a realtor. In California she worked in the intensive and cardiac care units at South Bay Hospital. She has taught health care classes for the Red Cross. Joyce is a member of the Single Owner Committee, AHCA long Term Care Committee, Utah Heallth Dept. IMR Committee, UHCA American College of Health Care Administrators, Ad-ministrators, board member of the Pleasant Grove-Lindon Chamber of Commerce, executive board member of the Strawberry Days Assocation, chairman of the Pleasant Grove parade, UHCA, and Joyce Hailing AHCA. She is active in church and civic duties and enjoys outdoor sports skiing, gardening, hiking, swimming, swim-ming, and a self-teaching home computer course. She is married and the mother of four children. |
