Show Rain doesn't deter crowd for final park concert A brief but heavy downpour did not scare music lovers away from the final Concert-In-The-Park of the 1985 summer season which was held Sunday at 6:30 p.m.. Over-100 people crowded into the Senior Citizen Center, adjacent to the Downtown Park, to listen to The Banjo Band perform after the rain forced the concert inside.; . The band received, a standing ovation from the audience who enjoyed more than an hour of toe-tapping toe-tapping banjo music with a few sing- alongs thrown in for good measure. Members of the group are Duane Clark, Pleasant Grove; Lynn Hunter, American Fork; Jerry Maxfield, Al Webber and Reed Payne, all of Orem. This performance concludes the summer concert series which has been well attended by local citizens. The concerts are slated to resume again next summer in June with a variety of musical entertainments planned. The concerts have been sponsored by the Pleasant Grove Arts Council and are an effort to provide good, cultural entertainment for the residents of the Pleasant Grove area. Watch for the concerts to begin again next summer. The Arts Council expressed its appreciation to all who have assisted in anyway with the concerts, whether it was by providing entertainment or by listening to it. ; 1 ? f ' Banjo Band members performed the last of the concerts in the park started this year. |
