Show Lindon Council mulls development By KALYN SECRETAN Lindon City Redevelopment Agency consultants Gene Jacobs and Coles Durham met with the Lindon City Council June 19 to finalize an agreement between Burnham and Williams and Lindon City. Lindon is anxious to move forth on redeveloping land between the freeway and Geneva, north of 200 South. ! Development has been at a standstill because the sewer service was not available. The Board of Health granted approval for a limited number of holding tanks on the condition Lindon City would guarantee the sewer could be installed in one year: Burnham and Williams are interested in-terested in a metal fabricating business. Plans include an office and building to work out of. The ; planning commission approved? ap-proved? he. legally binding agreement on the condition Burnham Bur-nham and Williams will share in the sewage cost. Burnham and Williams were willing to commit to the sewer at this time but felt curbs and gutters should not be required. The Highland Disposal Company paid a return visit to the council to offer additional information concerning con-cerning the automated garbage pickup. Advantages cited include locally owned and operated, participation in city clean-up day, Christmas tree removal and community festivity clean-up. The automation system improves the quality of the living environment en-vironment through animal and insect control, standardized garbage gar-bage containers, faster and safer service, they stated. Sensors will not allow accidents to happen, they added. Residents will enjoy the convenience con-venience of a roll-a-long trash container provided by the company, the officials said. The disposal company presently serves Highland, Alpine and Cedar Hills. .They are hoping to get other contracts in the area before investing in-vesting in the automated system. The water flow is down and more pumps are in use now than the end of July last year. Plans include building another box in existing pipe. Lindon wants to install lighting at the ball park but the type of lighting will depend on whether a generator is obtained. The County Jail Fee Resolution Agreement was petitioned at the Mayors of Utah County Meeting. The proposal states that each city will be responsible for the cost of housing prisoners through June 30, 1985. Beginning July 1 the county would be responsible and support the county jail. CUP has invited administrators and council members to visit the water sites. Tours are available July 9-11 and July 30-Aug. 1. Officials Of-ficials participating last year felt it a worthwhile experience. A report was given . concerning -imposing a weight limit on 200 South. It was noted in West Valley, roads were closed down according to a Utah code prohibiting large trucks to use the area. The weight limit was increased but a fee charged for overloaded vehicles. |
