Show Mrs. Annie Loader Will Celebrate 90th Anniversary Open house will be held Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Feb. 15, from 2 til 6 p.m. for Annie Pierce Loader at her home, at 885 Locust Ave. Mrs. Loader was born in Wales Feb.. 15, 1860, daughter of John andAnnie Page Pierce. She came to the United States at the age of eight years and still relates many stories from and about her native country. She traveled to Salt Lake City by wagon with her parents. Her father owned and operated the first roller mills in that section. During her girlhood Mrs. Loader Load-er worked at the Lion House for Brigham Young, caring for some of his children. May 10, 1889, she saw the golden gol-den spike driven at Promotory Point, near Ogden, the spike that linked the East and West. At the age of . 16 she married Harry Loader at Salt Lake City. Later the marriage, was solemnized solemn-ized in the Salt Lake Temple. Her husband was engaged in mining and farming. They later moved to Pleasant Grove. Mother of 12 children, six of whom are living, 40 grandchildren, grandchild-ren, 80 greatgrandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, she still cares for herself and does her own housework despite poor eyesight. eye-sight. She has been active and enjoyed en-joyed meeting friends through the ninety years of her life. |
