Show REPLANTING DENUDED FORESTS Assistant Forester W. T. Co of the silviculture department of the forest service has gone to Smith's fork iu the rintah national forest to make an Investigation of the piriposed sale of certain timber in that locality. Before reaching the Smith's fork, country, however, Mr. Cox. in company com-pany with Forester James Fetheroff, who has charge of the planting department de-partment of the forest service here, will visit the Wasatch national forest and a section of the Uintah forest, near Hober Cltv, for the purpose of looking after the nursery interests of the service. The government has a nnryery In the Wasatch forest and also in the Uintah forest, in which a number of million plants of yellow pine are he-ing he-ing cared for, and the planting man and Mr. Cox are anxious to see tho progress bvlng made in the nurseries and learn when It will be possible to transplant some of the tender shoots. The question of reforestation Is one of great Interest in tho service Just now. and the main concern centers In the planting and sih (culture departments. depart-ments. There is a determination on the part of Chief Forester Henry S Graves to restore devastated forests and bring them back to a condition cf usefulness. |
