Show ONE BURGLAR CAUGHT.' BUT OTHER ESCAPES. Salt Lak Aug. 8 A man who gave the police his name as J. J. Da vis was arrested by Patrolmen Bush and Pierce early Sunday morning and taken to police headuarterqs, where he Is being held pending an Investigation. Investi-gation. Patrolmen Bush and Pierce ha1 been detailed for plain clothes work, and while walking on Cactus street thev saw two men who were apparently appar-ently hiding behind a billboard, mid from the view of Patrolman Carsbnr who was on the optnlte side of the i-troct. As Patrolmen Bush and Pierce drew near the two snspecls they rau from behind the billboard, and into the alley in the rear of the Moxiim hMel. Patrolman Bu.-h commanded com-manded t hem to fitop running, ami when thev continued he fired one shot In the air to frUhten them. The shot seemed to lend wir.?s to the suspects, who squeezed through a bole In a fence In the alloy. The one who gave the name of Davis was captured later by Patrol miMi Pierce. When the stores iu the neighborhood neighbor-hood were examined, the patrolmen discovered that burglars had attempted attempt-ed to euter the rear door 01 the Mux-urn Mux-urn bar. and had almost broken the lock of the door by the u-e of a "jimmy."
