Indicates that the young man lost his llfo in an attempt to stavo a horse that had gone into tho river. .The young man, In company with HjTum Blylock, Harold Campbell and Willis Daniels, left North Ogden Thursday evening for a fishing trip to Corlnne, expecting to be jonc only one day. Lorln W. Williams was the son of I.fayett W. and Elizabeth Tresoda. Williams of North Ogden. Details of tho sad ending of this promising young man were received from eye-witnesses of tho drowning. Arriving at the point where they Intended to camp near the river, on ol the horses floundered Into tho river with a rope tied about one of its forelegs fore-legs and was drowning when young Williams Jumped Into the water in aa cudeavor to save It. He swam to tho horso and was endeavoring en-deavoring to cut the rope when ho apparently became exhausted and cried to the boys on the bank: "I'm f-11 In boys, and will soon be on the other shore." He made an effort to climb on to the horse's back but fell backward into the water and was swept away by the current before aid could reach him. William's companions were evidently evident-ly unable to assist in any way and bad to go tome distance for aid. The lody was recovered about four hours Inter only a short distance from the rolnt whero the drowning occurred, i-nd was brought to the young man's home at North Ogden yesterday afternoon, after-noon, being later taken to the undertaking under-taking rooms of Larkln & Sons. Lorln Williams was one of the mos. popular young men at North Ogden. He was for several years a teacher in the North Ogden Sunday school and was, at the tlnio of hla death, second counsellor of the quorum of elders. He was a member of tho North Ogden band and belonged to trie North Ogden Dramatic society. He was very active In all the social functions of the ward and being of a harpy and congenial disposition, was a favorite with all. He had. uince the death of hi6 father several years ago. taken the responsibility of hoisting tho national flug at North Ogden on all holidays. On July 24th, he delivered a toast to the baseball players, entitled "Our Baseball Roys," which was very fine and for which he received much applause. ap-plause. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock, Monday afternoon, at tho North Ogden meeting house. Friends may view the body at the home from 10 until 1 on the day of the funeral, interment will be in the North Ogden cemetery. |
