Show FACES SERIOUS CRIMINAL CHARGEj Two complaints were filed today against a Twenty-fifth street secondhand second-hand dealer, one charge being that of doing business without a license, J and the other, receiving stolen good-Myers, good-Myers, the man who confessed to Detective Pender and Patrolman Kel-liher Kel-liher and Mohlman Saturday after- J noon that he had stolen three pieces o: silverware valued at $2f, was afterward af-terward induced to tell where he had disposed of the loot. Myers Informed the officers that he had sold the silverware for a dollar !ut when the dealer was approached on the subject he denied all knowledge knowl-edge of Myers or silverware of any description. After a consultation Myers was taken tak-en down te the store where he charged the dealer with having I ought the goods from him for a dollar. dol-lar. Even then the latter deuled the charge hut later weakened In the matter and admitted that he had taken tak-en the silverware to his home. He was compelled to go after It at once, which he did. delivering a nigar bowl, cream pitcher and spoon bolder to the officers without further furth-er trouble. Second-hand dealers are obliged to keep u record of article purchased and the same must be reported dally to the chief of police. The dealer In question, however, provoked the police by his persistent denials that he had the goods purchased from Myers and they are determined to make an example of him for his own gcod as well as for tha benefit of others who are possibly unaware of the gravity ot buying stolen prop city. |
