Show BOY ISSUES WORTHLESS CHECKS DOUGLAS ADAMS OF PROVO IS THE ARTIST. Drew Money From Local Merchants by His Ability to Write Orders on Banks. A youth by the name of Douglas Adams, until recently a student of Proo, has given a number of local merchants cause for regret through his ability to realize money on worthless worth-less checks. Young Adams tried his first experiment experi-ment on the Cave drug store on lower Twenty-fifth street and succeeded In obtaining $2:25 on a check presumably signed by his mother at Provo. Confident Confi-dent that tho trick could be turned again In the same place, he returned later and cashed another chock for $30. It is stated that he also worked the Morrlssey fruit store for $18 and a local clothier for about $30 with perhaps others still to be heard from. The boy's mother was communicated communicat-ed with and stated to the merchants involved that sho had never known her son to bo in trouble. The losers are in hopes that the mother will hold herself responsible for her son's various vari-ous negotiations. To be doubly certain, cer-tain, they are making an ffort to communicate com-municate with the boy's father who is said to be well-to-do and is now in Iowa. |
