Show EXCLUDING CHILDREN FROM PLACES TO RENT. An eastern paper approves tho action ac-tion of the Illinois legislature in pass- i Ing a measure which declares void all leases of apartment houses from which children are excluded. Babies are not popular, as a rule, with the class of i men and women who live in apartment houses In large American cities, and the owners and lessees of such houses have often been forced to exclude children from them. Probably an apartment house isn't tho best place in the world, says the Times in which to rear the child. It isn't a very good substitute for the home in the child's case. But there are many men and women who are forced to live in apartment houses, and where they are attempting to lhe a normal married life, no burden should be put upon them on that account. The child is entitled to some consideration, consid-eration, and It would piobably be a good thing for other states to follow the example of Illinois. -The sunshine and the hope of tho world are to be found in childhood, and any practice, policy or condition not good for the child isn't good for the world. |
