Iwccn employers and the unions through failure of the Building Tradc3 council to ratify the proposed new working agreement as submitted by the joint committee of workers from the Building Trades council and contractors' con-tractors' association. The employers at a meeting yesterday yes-terday announced that, it having been found Impossible to come to a settlement settle-ment with the workers, after having accepted the agreement as proposed by their committee, all plans for future fu-ture agreements seemed out of the question. The men say that the proposed working agreement was not submitted submit-ted to the contractors as final, but as a tentative plan, subject to ratification ratifica-tion by the building trades crafts; and that tho crafts as a body having re-j re-j fused to accept the agreement, no further negotlatlqn3 on lis acceptance I will be conducted. Tho employers say that all they wish is a constructive, progressive ! policy which will Insure them safety I In their undertakings, but that It Is Impossible for them to submit to "ar- I bltrary dictation" of the employed. |
