Show I. r- ELKS INITIATE 41 CANDIDATES Sunday Officers of Ogden Lodge Go to McGill; Prepare Pre-pare for Convention The largest class that has ever been initiated in Ogden lodge, No. 719, B. P. O. E., in their home in this city was accepted into the order last evening eve-ning when '11 candidates were "let In'' on the mysteries of Elkdom, This practically marks the close of the Initiation Ini-tiation of the largo number of candidates candi-dates that were gained during the time f up to the first of last month. The i- roster of the local lodge now numbers ' .well over a thousand members. Go to McGIII. On next Sunday the officers of Og-' Og-' den lodge and a large number of members mem-bers will journey to McGill, Nevada, where an initiation ceremony will be held. About eighty candidates have been voted on and these will be Initiated Ini-tiated at that time, as a branch of 719. B H. Sullivan, of McGill, was In Ogden last evening and explainvd the I details of the program arranged for the reception of the Ogden visitors. This reception includes a big smoker following the ceremony, a ball game the following day (Monday) and a big ball the same evening. Sullivan also explained that McGill has a baseball team composed of members mem-bers of 719 that is a world beater and the lodge last night voted to bring this team to Salt Lake for the annual state meeting, to bo held June 2, 3 and -1. This team will be pitted against the Salt Lake team and later will play in Ogden and 1-ark City, before Its return to McGill. II ry lor oup. The committee from Ogden having charge of arrangements for tho con-- con-- " ventlon at Salt Lake explained in detail de-tail the plans that have been made for - Ogdcn's participation in tho parade, to be held Friday, June 4. Ogden Is making an effort to win the cup off-n off-n ered by J. S. Lewis for the best ap pearance In this parade. This cup has to be won three times beforo it bo-comes bo-comes tho property of any lodge, and Ogden is out after it. The program, as outlined for the big state meet, is filled with action from start to finish. It includes a big: outing at Saltair, a record-breaking parade and a wind-up ball at Bonneville Bonne-ville park. It Is tho desire of the convention committee to learn as soon as possible f the approximate number of Ogden Elks who plan to attend, so that arrange- ments can be made for their transport ation. It was announced last evening that a one-way rate could be obtained on the Bamberger, if a sufficient num-hor num-hor wont on the interurban. Announcement was also mado last evening by the entertainment committee com-mittee that a dance will be held at Lorln Fan- park on the evening of Friday, May 2S, for Elks only. The Lillian Thatcher orchestra will furnish furn-ish the music for this party. A number num-ber of parties are to be held at the different amusement resorts during the summer, according to the announcement |
