"Tho last time I saw you," said Sinti, "I left you to guard my buffalo meat. When I returned, only a pile of bones was left, and you were gone. As I think of that, my heart is not very good towards you." The bear told SJnti he did not want to fight, but all the animal people had heard that the Man had out-jumped out-jumped him and won his buffalo meat. Because of that, the bear had lost his place as chief of the animal council. I "Now," said the bear, "you beat me at your game, jumping, and you must play me at my game, wrestling. At that I can beat you and win back my place as chief." Sinti jumped up, cracked his heels together, and shouted ho was ready to wrestle right away. "No, you must wait. Come up to the Jo.p of the high mountain where my lying-down place is," said the bear. "All of the animal peoplo will be ; there to .see me beat you I shall throw you down so hard the breath will go out of your body. Then I shall be chief again." "Good!" replied Sinti. "Four sleeps then I will be there. Then tho animals ani-mals shall know that Man is tho greatest of beings." I When Sinti reached the top of the' (mountain, h6 found the animals wait-: ing in a circle, and Sittlm ready. "Now," said Sinti, "stand up on your hind feet like the half man you are and I will show you how to' wrestle." The bear stood up, andl Sinti tried to get hold of Sittim's arms, but could not. Then he took him by the throat and shut his breath nearly off. -But Sittlm put his arms around him. and together they rolled on the ground. First one, then the other was .on top. Pretty soon the bear hugged Sinti so light that his breath went out of his mouth into the bear'f? ear! with such a noise that the bear let' go of him. Then they caught each! other and rolled down the mountain side, bending down young trees and I sending big rocks rolling down into' the lake at-tho bottom. Prettv soon' "whoosh!" both of them tumbled! into the lake with a big splash.
